Year 5 & 6 pupils spent the afternoon at Belle Vue Sports Centre attending a sport day.  The pupils enjoyed the session hosted by Miss Dixon and pupils from St Peter’s.

Class 13 enjoyed a day out at The Anderton Centre.  Pupils enjoyed a morning of building shelters, making fires and making smoores and bread around the campfire.  They then enjoyed an afternoon of canoe rafting where they worked in teams to paddle across the reservoir and playing in the water.  The whole class thoroughly enjoyed the day, thank you Mark, Matty and Vicky.

Class 13 enjoyed a morning of BMX bike riding at Manchester Cycle Centre.  They received tuition from the coaches there who taught them how to ride a BMX bike over the jumps at the centre. The children really enjoyed the experience.

Class 13 enjoyed an afternoon with the coaches from City in the Community.  They were taught football skills and enjoyed the afternoon.

Class 13 spent the morning learning orienteering with Dan and Claire.  They learned the basic skills of orienteering, following maps and using a compass, and had an enjoyable morning.

St Richard’s Primary School were surprised with a real treat today (16th June).  As well as having sports lessons with the coaches from City in the Community, many classes were allowed to have their photographs taken with the Capital One 2016 Winners Cup.  The children, as well as the staff, were very excited to have the real cup in their school.  Thank you Manchester City!

Congratulations to our hockey team, who finished runners-up in the finals of the citywide hockey competition, which was held at Manchester High School for Girls in March.  The team had to win 5 games to reach the final, where they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Stanley Grove.  The squad:  Hamza, Michael, Martins, Amaka and Jaqwanai.

Well done to our girls’ football team, who finished 5th in the citywide finals of the girls’ football held at Whalley Range High school in April.  This was a great achievement for the girls as over 60 schools entered the competition.  The squad:  Justyna, Glorian, Jacqwanai, Sarah, Naomi, Rumai, Demileigh, Kayleigh, Jasmine.

On June 16th our Year 4 girls’ football team were crowned Manchester Champions, when they won the citywide finals at Platt Lane.  The girls won all 5 games they played on the afternoon and beat Old Hall Drive in the final.  Over 40 schools had entered the competition and the whole school is very proud of our gold medal winners.  The squad:  Rashe, Amy, Uzoma, Olivia, Jessica, Emama and Erin.

In May our cricket team won the East Manchester cricket tournament.  They qualified for the final in June at Parrs Wood High School.  In the final they finished 4th, narrowly missing out on a medal.  This was still a great achievement considering over 50 schools had entetred the competition.  The squad:  Hamza, Sami, Usama, Martins, Michael, Moeed, Marghoob, Mahmood, Sarah and Rumai.  Mr Neilson with St Richard’s Cricket Team
